What is a Clinical Trial?
A clinical trial (also known as a research study or a clinical study) involves research using human volunteers that is intended to increase medical knowledge. In general, clinical trials add medical knowledge related to the treatment, diagnosis, and prevention of diseases or conditions. There are typically two types of clinical trials - interventional or observational. All clinical trials conducted in our office are led by a medical doctor (also known as a principal investigator). Clinical trials can take place a a local medical office, a hospital, university, or even at your home.

Who can participate?
Anyone can participate in a clinical trial. However, usually there is a predetermined set of criteria that a volunteer would have to meet to be able to participate. This is to ensure the safety of the volunteer. Some clinical trials specifically look for volunteers who have a certain illness or medical condition while other clinical trials seek volunteers who are relatively healthy. If your are interested in learning more or potentially participating in a clinical trial, feel free to speak with and of the study team at Infigo Clinical Research.

Do I have to pay to participate in a research study?
Absolutely not! Clinical trials look for volunteers who willingly want to participate. There is NEVER any cost for your medical treatment related to the clinical trial you participate in and NO INSURANCE IS REQUIRED. The research study will cover all of your medical related expenses. In fact, most clinical trials typically reimburse volunteers for their time and travel.
4
Do I have to be an established patient to participate?
Definitely not! We would be happy to speak with any friends, family members, community members or anyone else interested in participating in a clinical trial. Don't forget to ask about our referral program too!
5
Will I be some sort of lab rat?
Of course not! Patient safety is our number one goal when conducting clinical research. The study doctor and team monitors all volunteers closely through physical exams, lab work, regular office visits, and with close communication. We will also keep you updated on your treatment plan and if there are any alternatives that become available while you are participating in the study. Remember you are a VOLUNTEER and your participation is your decision.
